Terms of Service
Effective date: November 1, 2026
The short version
- One purchase, one computer, forever. Licenses cannot be moved to another computer.
- PDF Flatten is not a redaction tool and not legal advice. Keep your originals and check every output file yourself before you rely on it.
- The software is provided as is. If something goes wrong, the most we owe you is what you paid for the license.
This summary is for convenience. The full terms below are what apply.
1. Who we are and this agreement
PDF Flatten is made and sold by Morrow Systems, LLC (“we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between us and you, the person or organization that buys, installs, or uses PDF Flatten (“you”). If you use the software for a firm, company, or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for it.
You accept these terms when you purchase a license, or when you install or use the software, including the free trial. If you do not agree, do not install or use it.
2. What the software does, and what it does not do
PDF Flatten converts each page of a PDF into an image and writes a new PDF made only of those images. It is designed to leave out the text layer, metadata, annotations, form fields, bookmarks, and hidden layers of the source file. It runs on your computer; your documents are not sent to us.
Please understand its limits:
- It is not a redaction tool. Flattening only preserves what is visible on the page. If something is visible in your original, it will be visible in the output. If a redaction box does not fully cover the material, is not opaque, or is not visible when the page is drawn, the material underneath may appear in the output. Information may also be readable by people or by OCR software from the page image itself.
- It is not legal advice. Nothing in the software, on our website, or in our support replies is legal advice, and using PDF Flatten does not create an attorney-client relationship with anyone.
- It is not guaranteed to be complete or accurate. A page may render incorrectly, partially, or blank; a file may fail to convert; and output may not meet a particular court, agency, or protocol requirement.
3. Your responsibilities
You agree that you, and not Morrow Systems, LLC, are solely responsible for:
- keeping your original files and any backups you need;
- reviewing every output file yourself before you rely on, file, produce, serve, or share it, including checking that each page is present, legible, and complete, and that nothing that should be removed remains;
- applying and checking redactions with suitable tools and procedures before flattening;
- complying with court rules, local rules, standing and ESI orders, production protocols, agreements with other parties, and any privilege, confidentiality, privacy, or professional-conduct obligations that apply to you or your clients; and
- deciding whether PDF Flatten is suitable for your purpose.
4. Your license
When you pay for PDF Flatten, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the software on one computer, for your own personal or internal business purposes. The license is activated on and tied to that computer.
By design, a license cannot be unbound, moved, or transferred to another computer or another person. A new or replacement computer needs a new license. We do not sell the software to you; we license it, and we keep all rights not expressly granted here.
You may not:
- use one license on more than one computer, or share license keys;
- sell, resell, rent, lend, sublicense, or otherwise distribute the software or a license key;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software, except to the extent applicable law allows this despite this restriction;
- remove or work around the license checks or trial limits; or
- use the software in violation of any law.
Parts of the software may include third-party components licensed under their own terms. Those terms apply to those components.
5. Free trial
You may use a free trial to evaluate PDF Flatten before buying. The trial may be limited in time or features, as described in the app or on our website, and we may change or end the trial offer at any time. Everything in these terms, including the disclaimers and limits of liability, applies to the trial. Because the trial is free, use it to confirm the software meets your needs before you rely on it.
6. Price, payment, and no refunds
The price is shown on our website at the time of purchase (currently US$20, one-time). Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card details. You are responsible for any taxes that apply.
All sales are final and we do not offer refunds. Use the free trial to confirm the software meets your needs before you buy. If a payment is refunded, reversed, or charged back, that license stops working.
7. Privacy
PDF Flatten processes your documents on your own computer. The only time it contacts our servers is when you choose to activate a license. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
8. No warranties
THE SOFTWARE, THE TRIAL, AND ANY SUPPORT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MORROW SYSTEMS, LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED, THAT IT WILL REMOVE ALL TEXT, METADATA, HIDDEN CONTENT, OR REDACTED INFORMATION, THAT EVERY PAGE WILL RENDER CORRECTLY, OR THAT ITS OUTPUT WILL BE ACCEPTED BY ANY COURT, AGENCY, OPPOSING PARTY, OR PROTOCOL.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MORROW SYSTEMS, LLC AND ITS OWNERS, MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE OR ITS OUTPUT, INCLUDING WHERE:
- THE SOFTWARE FAILS, CRASHES, OR PRODUCES INCOMPLETE, INCORRECT, ILLEGIBLE, OR BLANK PAGES;
- ANY TEXT, METADATA, HIDDEN CONTENT, OR REDACTED OR PRIVILEGED INFORMATION REMAINS IN, OR CAN BE SEEN, SEARCHED, OR RECOVERED FROM, THE OUTPUT, INCLUDING BECAUSE A REDACTION WAS NOT FULLY COVERED, OPAQUE, OR VISIBLE, OR BECAUSE SEARCHABLE TEXT CAME THROUGH;
- OUTPUT IS REJECTED OR OBJECTED TO BY A COURT, AGENCY, OPPOSING PARTY, CLIENT, OR PRODUCTION PROTOCOL; OR
- ANY DATA OR FILE IS LOST, CORRUPTED, OR OVERWRITTEN.
IN NO EVENT WILL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING COURT SANCTIONS OR FEES, MALPRACTICE OR PROFESSIONAL-LIABILITY CLAIMS, DISCIPLINARY ACTION, WAIVER OF PRIVILEGE OR WORK-PRODUCT PROTECTION, BREACH OF CONFIDENTIALITY OR PRIVACY, LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, CLIENTS, OR GOODWILL, COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, OR CLAIMS BY THIRD PARTIES, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD SUCH DAMAGES WERE POSSIBLE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS OF ANY KIND RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE OR THESE TERMS, UNDER ANY LEGAL THEORY, WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID US FOR THE LICENSE (OR US$0 FOR THE TRIAL). A PAYMENT UP TO THAT AMOUNT IS YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY. These limits apply even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose, and they are an essential part of the bargain that allows us to sell the software at this price.
10. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Morrow Systems, LLC and its owners, members, managers, employees, and contractors from any claims, losses, liabilities, sanctions, damages, and costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) brought by a third party, including your clients, a court, or an opposing party, that arise from your use of the software or its output, documents you process, file, produce, or share, or your breach of these terms or of any law, rule, order, or professional obligation.
11. Termination
Your license lasts until it ends under these terms. It ends automatically if you breach Section 4, or if your purchase is refunded or charged back. You may stop using the software and uninstall it at any time. When the license ends you must stop using the software. Sections 2, 3, and 8 through 14 continue to apply after it ends.
12. Changes to these terms and the software
We may update these terms from time to time by posting a new version on this page with a new effective date. Changes apply from that date forward and do not reduce the license you already paid for. If you keep using the software, or install an update, after a change, you accept the updated terms. We may release updates but are not required to, and we do not promise to support any particular operating system version forever.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Spokane County, Washington, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.
14. General
Jurisdictions differ. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or limits on liability, or give consumers rights that cannot be waived. In those places, the disclaimers and limits in these terms apply to the fullest extent permitted by law, and nothing here limits rights you cannot lawfully give up.
Severability. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent allowed and the rest will stay in effect.
Entire agreement. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about PDF Flatten and replace any earlier understanding. If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them, for example in connection with a sale of the business.
